This album is what has recently introduced me to the genre of city- pop - a genre that thrived in urban areas of Japan in the 80s. The genre is heavily influenced by funk and disco from the earlier decade of the 70s, and is inspired by western music that was influential at the time. Think ABBA, the Bee Gees and Donna Summer. Anri is a pop singer from the Kanagawa province in Japan, and is one of the main city-pop artists. She has 40 albums under her belt, however the internet seems to have fallen in love with her album Timely!!, consisting of 11 tracks in total.
